Do you ever wonder: "Where am I going?"
If you don't find your way to God through Jesus, you will never know God personally and your life will have no lasting
value. When you die you will be separated from God forever. You will spend eternity in Hell. But if you
accept Jesus as your Savior, you will have a personal relationship with God and live with Him forever.
Which
way are you going? Jesus said: "I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe
in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from
death into life." (John 5:24)
How do you find your way - the way to God?
There are 3 things you have to do.
Are you tired of dead-end roads, tired of short-cuts that take
you out of your way, tired of trying to find your way alone in this world?
There is a highway that leads to freedom, to true peace of mind and you don't need a map to get there.
All you need is GPS - God's Plan of Salvation.
How do I get there?
Ask Jesus Christ to come into your life as your Lord and Savior. Why Lord and Savior? Because
Jesus is the Savior of the world - He became that when He died on the cross for our sins. But He is not the Lord
of everyone's life. Sometimes we think we can get where we want to be by choosing our own path. Proverbs 16:1
tells us that we can make our plans, but the final outcome is in God's hands. When you make the choice to accept Jesus
as the Lord of your life, you are saying that He knows what is best for you, and that you want Him to use you as He wishes.
When we make this decision, we know that if we have accepted Him, He will watch over us and guard us from evil.
"I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. No one shall snatch them away from me." (John
10:28)
Here's an example of a simple prayer that you can use. What really counts is what is in
your heart. Jesus said "Whoever comes to me I will never drive away." (John 6:37)
"Lord Jesus, thank You for showing me how much I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for me. I am a sinner. I ask that You forgive all of my failures and the sins of my past. Make me a new person and give me a fresh start with You. I now ask You to come
into my life as my Lord and Savior. Help me to love and serve
You with all of my heart. Amen."
Your Destination, Your Journey. Becoming a Christian
is only the beginning, the first mile. You now have a personal relationship with God as your heavenly Father.
To live the abundant life Jesus offers, you must trust in His grace and make step-by-step, moment-by-moment choices.
Will this choice change your life? Yes. Will it solve all your problems, fix your finances, take away your bad
habits? No. When you are born-again, things do not automatically become perfect. It will be a challenge
and at times, it can be downright hard! Don't give up though. Always remember that you are not alone - He will
help you to accept the changes He wants to make in your life. You can depend on His power to enable you to grow as a
child of God, to become the person that He intends you to be. Make the choice and use these "mile-markers"
along the road to freedom.
- Start Reading The Bible
- The Bible is not just a book. It's more than just ink on a page, it is the Word of God. This book
and the life that it gives will change you. Think of it as B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) and
make a commitment to read it every day. As a new Christian, a good place to start would be the Book of John.
- Reach Out To God Through Prayer - This may seem silly, awkward or even uncomfortable
but prayer is simply communicating with God. You don't have to use fancy words, it doesn't have to rhyme, you don't even
have to speak out loud. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. Make it part of your daily routine.
Trust that God will hear and respond. He is only a prayer away and wants to hear from you.
- Find a Church - Commitment and involvement with other believers is essential for progress
and growth as a new Christian. It is very important to find a church that teaches God's Word. If the preacher
is telling you that being a good person is enough, then you're in the wrong church!
- Pass It On - God has called us all to be His representatives on this earth. Tell
somebody else how God has changed your life. Be an example by the way you live - you never know who is paying
attention.
